Adobe Edge Animate offers a new way of creating rich and interactive animated content for websites, mobile apps, and ebooks. Like to code? You can access the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that powers your compositions from the Edge Code interface.
If you're not an avid programmer, you can use Edge Animate's more design-friendly features to build the same graphics without code. Want to learn more?
Join Chris Converse in this course, as he covers all the essentials of this powerful toolset. Chris shows how to build basic compositions with shapes, text, images, and HTML5 video; animate the different elements; trigger actions and events; and incorporate custom CSS and JavaScript effects. He also shows how to make your Edge Animate layouts responsive, embed web fonts, and accommodate older browsers. When your composition is complete, learn how to add it to a webpage or take content into other applications like InDesign, Dreamweaver, Muse, and iBooks Author.

Problem. Created with Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1 an animation published as an Edge Animated Deployment Package (.oam).
Nothing special (I think). Installed Edge Suite.
Examples Of Flash Preloaders
Made module active, currently working as admin (privileges set not needed). Went to menu 'Structure Edge Suite'.
Uploaded.oam file, got the following error Drupal error Cannot find main JS edge file temporary://edgesuite/src1/Assets/indexedgePreload.js. No definition id returned. The strange thing is that 'indexedgePreload.js' isn't included in the.oam file. Only file a look-a-like 'indexedge.js'. On the Adobe forums I see discussions about the function of 'xxxedgePreload.js', so probably I need it. But where does it get initiated? From within this 'Edge Suite' module?

With Adobe edge you can say preloader IMMEDIATE / POLITE. Both options will render an.oam file, which gives the same described problem. (see example ) Even with an Adobe example edge animate project, I get this error.
But Adobe Edge mentioned, while opening the file, that it was an old Edge project file, which was automatically updated and saved. I've uploaded my Adobe Edge animated test version, as index.zip. Rename it to index.oam, because the original extension wasn't allowed for upload.
So, I think we have a first version. It is still experimental so please don't think about using this anywhere near production. I have tested old compositions, new compositions, multiple new compositions on a page.
Please give this a test and let me know if you run into any problems. If so, please sent me the OAM so I can test. Git clone -branch ea5 You need to publish the OAM with 'separate preloader option' and maybe leave the directories to their default values, not sure if that will work otherwise. You don't need to enable CDN, Edge Suite will use that automatically (for now?) as this is easier. I've also build in a runtime version check. Processmaker wiki. Before you were able to put different comps in different runtime version on one page and everything would crash.
Now Edge Suite will only use the newest runtime of all the comps rendered on a page and skip older ones. Messages will be printed for admins on the screen and watchdog messages will be logged as well. Older comps then either need to be updated or run in iframe mode. If you can, please test a couple of updated (e.g. From EA4 to EA5) compositions, as these are different from freshly created once as they have still jquery included. Stuff still might break their, would be good to know.
If someone doesn't know how to use git then let me know, then I'll upload a zip somewhere. There don't seem to be any snaphots of feature branches anymore.
or to post comments. Thanks for all the hard work.
I have been testing the ea5 branch of the edge suite plugin (from git) with the latest version of EA CC. I've added a preloader, tried with immediate and polite loading, with the DOM as a separate file option enabled (in web settings, so I'm not sure how useful that is). I've also tried with and without the Adobe CDN option. In all cases, I am still getting the same error, 'Cannot find main JS edge file'. Are there any additional things I can try?
I have reverted back to older versions of Edge, those still work, but I would prefer not to go that route. I will continue to test any additional options. or to post comments.
Here's a hacky method that's worked for me, at least for a simple test. Publish the composition both for web and as an OAM file. Then rename the.oam file as a.zip and extract it into a new folder. Copy the (yourcompositionname)edgePreload.js file from the web folder into the Assets folder of the new folder you extracted to. Then re-zip the folder and rename it as.oam. So far this has worked for me. Uploading throws two small errors, not entirely sure what they refer to: 1) Auto detection of stage dimensions failed: Unable to spot stage variable.
2) OAM stage pixel dimensions defaults detected, using those instead. These aren't really an issue for me, as far as I can tell. One thing I've noticed: if I now include a preloader it will occasionally hang on the preloader. Everything seems to work fine when publishing without a preloader, though again I have only done very simple compositions as tests (no external javascript libraries, etc.). or to post comments. @RumpledElf Did you run version 1.x of the module before?
These kind of error occurred before when people upgraded directly from 1.x to 2.x. There is no upgrade path from version 1.x to 2.x as it was a complete rewrite, the EA5 version of the module is also based on 2.x version and will be merged into it pretty soon. If you ran 1,x before then you have to put the 1.x module code in there again, do a clean uninstall of 1.x and then place the 2.x code and upload your animations again. I just don't have the resources to provide an upgrade path for such an old version, sorry. Let me know if that helps. or to post comments. Back at work, probably had version 1 since I used drush to install so used drush again to redownload/uninstall and the module from git installed clean but still with the same error as the OP.
We have a third party vendor doing all these animations, not sure whether to try and get them working by hand (did try and do this, failed miserably - edge doesn't like going in Drupal by itself), ask him to export everything as an older version each time or just keep waiting on this thread. or to post comments. Hi everyone, I have just updated the EA5 branch to push some updates. There is no need anymore for a preloader file, which means you can just publish your compositions to an OAM with whatever option you want. This should make things easier. I added an option that should make compositions scale to the witdh of their parent if no other options are set within the composition.
I have also update the zipped version: @Juc1 You can now just try the OAM in comment #14 @macrocosm @RumpledElf @beyondajoke: You need to unistall version 1.x with the code from the 1.x branch, meaning you can't update the code to 2.x, then realize that something doesn't work and then uninstall, that will cause errors. In that case you might have to kill the DB tables manually and check if edge suite specific variables still exist in your variables table. All edge suite variables are prefixed with 'edgesuite'. You should also delete the directories public://edgesuite and private://edgesuite. (Backup your code and your DB before you go off to hack your DB). You also can't use drush at the moment to install the EA5 branch as drush will only pull down the latest 2.x branch, therefore you either have to clone the repo and checkout the EA5 branch or, maybe easier, just use the linked zip above and manually place it in your module directory.
I feel this thread is getting a bit messy, therefore please open a new thread regarding any migration issues or DB errors. or to post comments. The exact error message is: Aborting, no file found that matches the main edge JS filename pattern. This is not a valid composition archive. No definition id returned.
All the animations were created on the previous version of edge suite (2.0) They all work fine on my other site The file system and edge suite settings are identical. I've uninstalled edge suite several times and cleared all references from the DB I currently have the version of edge suite from #26 installed but I tried 7.x-2.x-dev first on a clean install of drupal. Could it be a conflict with another module?
Thanks Mike. or to post comments.
