Backup Generator Sizing Your home appliances consume 'wattage' and you must size the generator to your home demand. Watch for certain appliances with electric motors that 'surge' wattage demand during startup. Devices such as computers can be damaged by generators without surge-balancing ability. Check with a certified electrician or professional generator installer for any installation that ties into your home wiring or if you have concerns about specific applications.
Generators can NOT be run indoors.
Yesterday I aquired a HUSKEE Supreme LT. The unit is less than 5 years old, runs and looks great! However, there is a cable that is loose at one end.it is mounted on the right side of the deck.NOTE: in the pic I have simply 'hooked' the loose end of the cable onto a cotter key. The RR corner of the bracket that attaches the mower deck to the tractor, had a weld break.the PO tried to fix it, but it didn't hold.so I need to fix that again. Patchouli oil. Could anyone please help me with how this cable is to be properly installed? Thanks in advance The tractor came with absolutely no manuals! Here are some more pictures of it.
The HUSKEE is in the garage, and ready for some 'fixin' The deck will be repaired, remove blades, clean the underside of the deck, apply graphite 'slick paint', sharpen and reinstall the blades.then clean the top of the deck with Meguire's medium cut cleaner, then wax the deck. Also, the 21hp B&S will get a new fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, and an oil change. The tractor itself will recieve a good cleaning with the Meguire's also, and will be waxed too.
I'll post some pics of the work in progress. Here are some pics of the fune we had with the HUSKEE: Here she is, in the garage, and deckless. We tried to 'go through' the mower to make sure that all was well.it steers much better now that it has 1/4' toe in instead of 1/2' toe out!!
We had to remove the bodywork to properly get to the engine The engine recieved a oil change with 10w-30 synthetic Valvoline oil, new oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, fuel line, fuel filter, and the air filter pre-cleaner washed out, and re-oiled. Saturday after I got home from work, we lit into it again.we replaced the upper and lower drive belts, on the tractor, and started in on the deck. As you can see, it had been a while since the deck had been cleaned out!! And just as long since the blades had been sharpened. Yes folks, that is the cutting edge. My son got the deck cleaned out, then I ground off the old/broken weld on the deck hanger, and reattached it, she is on there to stay now After it had cooled, and the reattched bracket area was painted and dry, Brandon went to cleaning the deck with the Meguires Meduim Cut Cleaner, then waxed the deck.
Once the deck was waxed, I installed the sharpened blades, and the deck was reattached to the tractor, and we hooked up the new PTO belt. Then we touched up the wax on the tractor, and got the Armor-All in action. Sunday afternoon I leveled the deck, and pushed it outside for these pictures. The final results: It barely turns over before it starts, and has PLENTY of power for the 46' cut deck Not too bad for a 'free' mower.
Now for the ONLY issue that I'm having. This mower has a manual PTO.and it won't stay engaged! The handle seems to easily slip backwards.like there is no friction, resistance, etc.
To mow, I had to -hold- the PTO lever forward! I have downloaded the Owners Manual, and the Parts Manual for the tractor.but I don't see in them what 'holds' the PTO in the engaged position.spring, friction, detent notch.??
Could someone help me out on this PTO deal. please. Thanks!

Wild Bill, I missed this when it was posted sorry or I could have helped you with the blade brake cable. My MTD has the same 46' deck. As you've probably already figured out the other end attaches to the PTO idler bracket so that when you engage the PTO it pulls the brake away from the pulley.
The manual PTO on mine stays once engaged feels like its spring loaded but I've never really checked it out. You may want to take a good look at the PTO idler bracket underneath for a missing spring. Wish I could help more but I'm away at work and can't take a look at mine right now. Nice job though she's looking good. No problem Tvern! I PM'd 'Neil', and he told me about the cable being part of a brake for the mower spindles.
That's all hooked up, and operational now.and that's part of the reason the deck won't stay engaged. I have downloaded the operators, and parts manual for the tractor from the MTD site, but neither is of the 'quality' I'm used to. I studied the parts manual, but can't see any type of 'anything' that keeps the handle in the 'engage' position. I stopped at a repair shop yesterday, and the tractor is headed there Monday eve.

To get 'buttoned up' As usual, Brandon did a good job cleaning up the HUSKEE. My dad has laid claim to it, so now I need to move the seat back.LOL.Dad is 6' tall, and he is pretty cramped!
